Countryside Walks
Countryside Walk #1
The area surrounding the Campsies has many excellent walks suitable for all abilities all of which feature amazing views. As part of our Campsie Mayfest, a countryside walk is normally held annually with the Strathkelvin Ramblers however, due to the current COVID-19 situation, we are bringing some countryside walks to you virtually.
Our first of 3 countryside walks is the Campsie Glen walk from Clachan of Campsie.
This walk features excellent scenery and is a great walk for all of the family. You can also explore the area around Clachan of Campsie which has more walks, shops, an art gallery and cafe.
There are many areas to explore along the river and waterfall on this walk but please make sure to keep an eye on children and take caution with steep drops, water and rocks.

Our third and final walk of our Virtual Campsie Mayfest 2021 is a popular one among locals and walkers alike and features amazing views of the Campsies, Ashenwell Dam and Alloch Dam.
This walk is 4 miles (6km) long and apart from the sloped farm road, is overall fairly level. The walk starts from the farm road next to Craighead Primary School that goes towards the slopes of the Campsies. Once the Campsies are in front of you at the top of the hilled farm road, keep walking along the road over the cattle grid for another few minutes. A path will appear to your left which will take you past Ashenwell Dams and through woodlands to Alloch Dam before you walk down another farm road to arrive at the main road between Milton of Campsie and Lennoxtown.
Milton of Campsie has many other places to explore including walks, a cafe and playground for children.
