” The theme for this November 2020 virtual exhibition is how the artist responds to, and copes with, the long Covid lockdown. Therefore, all my paintings have a relationship to the lockdown experience. Even if they were painted earlier, the connection could be made. For me, art is a way of expressing my feelings. It can also be comforting to totally immerse yourself in painting, or gardening, or anything creative. It distracts me from misery and loneliness “
” John is a member of Milton of Campsie Art Club who likes painting in watercolours and oils. He likes to paint from memories, creating atmosphere and imaginative derivations from nature with interesting linked-up structure.”
“I am retired paediatrician who has always had a desire to take up painting but never found the time until retiral 6 years ago. I originate from Malta and have lived and practiced medicine in Glasgow for the past 45 years. I started painting from scratch 3 years ago, attended art classes in acrylic painting at Neil Macdonald in Kirkintilloch and continued to experiment on my own during the past 9 months of lockdown. All the paintings I have submitted have been painted since March 2020. I take my inspiration mostly from photos which I take whenever I am out walking or travelling. I like to paint most topics but am especially attracted to portraiture which I find both challenging and difficult but satisfying. A morning spent painting while listening to Classical FM is a great way to relax!”
